Info: The original design for this ship was produced by Kuat Drive Yards during the Galactic Civil War, when the colossal starship manufacturer was aligned with the Empire. Consequently, few of these ships were ever purpose-built for the Republic; most have been captured from Imperial factions. One of these captured ships was given to Independence Ship Yards, a small Republic starship manufacturer based in the Outer Rim, who copied it carefully and began manufacturing the design for the New Republic, specifically the Rebel Squadrons. This particular ship was one of the first off the line and has a couple of modifications to suit the role it has been given: more powerful sensors and communications allow it to travel further into enemy territory and increased hangar space to hold a full wing of Republic starfighters, which tend to be larger than the TIE Fighters that the ship was designed to hold. The Big Bob does not permanently house any squads, but acts as a recon vesse and support ship for Retribution Fleet, receiving or launching fighters when the unit's main starship is unavailable.
Taron Piercz, Captain
Taron Piercz was born on Tallaan just as the New Order was coming into power. His parents soon became supporters of the Alliance faction which was growing on Tallaan, and Piercz grew up with an inherent dislike for the Empire. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the Rebellion as a naval officer and was assigned to the Nebulon-B Frigate Redemption as a young ensign almost immediately after graduating. Rapidly gaining command experience, he was transferred to a variety of ships, and was an Executive Officer aboard one of the Corvettes given to the Rebel Squadron's Retribution Fleet when it was formed. A skirmish with an Imperial starfleet saw him receive a New Republic Medal of Honour for safely bringing his damaged ship and its cargo and personnel home after the Commanding Officer on board was incapacitated. He has been posted on the Big Bob to gain experience as a ship's captain in the hope he will command a Calamari Cruiser someday.
Jen Aloris, Control
Jen Aloris grew up in the Core Systems from a rich family and excelled in school, rapidly learning the politics of high life in the Empire. She was soon aware of the corruption apparent in the Empire and was glad to see the end of their rule at Endor. However, she still didn't fit in with the aristocracy and their distaste of the "Rebels" now running the galaxy and soon joined the New Republic Academy. Graduating with honours, she was posted to the Rebel Squadrons as an ensign aboard the ESC Big Bob.
Tym Forseer, Mechanic
Tym Forseer joined the Rebellion as a fighter pilot, flying Y-Wings initially but moving to B-Wings when they became mainstream. He was injured during a scramble mission to save his starship when it was attacked by pirates and despite spending large amounts of time in bacta therapy, he had lost part of his left arm and was psychologically unable to fly fighters. He was assigned to the Big Bob as head of starfighter maintenance instead of retiring from active duty, bringing a wealth of starfighter experience and an intimate knowledge of the Alliance's starfighters, especially the Y-Wings and B-Wings.
Ric Enway, Engineer
Ric Enway grew up with a passion for building. Born in a shipyard in the Mid Rim, which his parents owned, he learned the family business and was soon repairing all manner of ships that passed by and making a variety of improvements on the family transport. Enway began work for Independence Ship Yards when his family's repair yard was seized by the Empire for use as a military repair centre and his parents sent to the spice mines of Kessel while he was buying supplies. After a lucky escape, he joined the Rebellion and was assigned to maintenance as a cadet on a Frigate shortly before the Battle of Endor. He was soon transferred to the Big Bob as head engineer and has made a variety of small improvements to it.
