Captain Vedik walked across the bridge of his empty Star Destroyer with a quiet foot. All the rewiring and refits for the bridge controls and such had already been taken care of, and while there was still considerable work to be done before the Prometheus was completely outfitted and ready to be launched as a Mark II Star Destroyer, he wanted to be the first to see how his new bridge worked out. Too much had happened too fast as of late. The arrival of the small Imperial raiding party, then the sudden recall of both General Fene and General Leitbur to Tarsonis for some reason or other. That left him in command of the area as General Horn was still down in the lower regions of the Osiris Sector. Rumor was running through the fleet that both generals were being reassigned, or put in command of some special project to destroy the Imperial threat farther out amongst the Outer Rim. It did sort of make sense given that this was a dead end sector, but it would seem to make more sense to let them at least finish what they started. All this sudden change though was why it was nice to be back on his own bridge with no one else around. The scenery was familiar to him, and comforting, and the lack of noise of commotion, of anything save the frequent movement of repair craft outside the bridge along the transparasteel window made it... peaceful. Soon the next set of supplies would arrive, and this one would have escort by the IBG. Not that two flights of snubs would be all that impressive, but given the Prometheus's damaged and inoperable state, he would have no problem letting them lend a hand. What really worried him though was that they had detected a tachyon enhanced transmission from one of the Imp ships before its destruction, and that meant that the Imps knew that the Prometheus was here, and vulnerable. Still, the platform defense network should be sufficient to hold for now. Glancing out through the transparasteel, Vedik spotted several freightors arrive from hyperspace followed by a small fighter escort. "Well at least the freighters are here." As he turned his head away from the view though, another quick motion moved passed him, and glancing back Vedik saw three capital ships that shouldn't have been there. "Emperor's black bones, the Imps." He turned to give the order to go to general quarters, but found no one on the bridge. Bombers began to scramble from the capital ships now, and Vedik sighed. Hopefully his boys were on their toes, because right now there was nothing he could do to help them.
